Introduction
The MCS Educational Trust and MCS Former Students’ Association (MCSFSA) are thrilled to announce the Virtual Walkathon 2023. This event marks the first in a series of three fun-filled walkathons leading up to the 100th Anniversary of our school in 2025.

The MCS Educational Trust and MCS Former Students’ Association have joined forces to organize the Virtual Walkathon 2023. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the Primary and Secondary Sections of the school.
Purpose of the Virtual Walkathon 2023
The funds raised from this event, net of expenses, will be utilized by the MCS Educational Trust to meet the needs of the Primary and Secondary Sections. Participants who complete 9,800 steps during the event will receive a commemorative medal and an electronic certificate of completion. By participating in all three walkathons, participants can collect three unique medals that can be combined to form one composite medal.
Event Details
Enrollment and Participation
To participate in the Virtual Walkathon 2023, participants must enroll and pay the HKD500 enrollment fee on the Run2gather’s app. The event is designed to be inclusive and accessible for participants of all ages and from all locations.
Walkathon Schedule and Location
The event will take place from April 20, 2023, to September 30, 2023. Participants can complete their 9,800 steps at their own time, pace, and location of choice. However, they must keep track of their progress.
Deadline for Enrollment and Steps Completion
The deadline for enrollment and proof of steps completion is 11:59 PM on September 30, 2023.
Medal Delivery/Collection
For current students, teachers, staff, and their families, two options are available for medal delivery: SF Express delivery service (shipping charges payable by receiver) and distribution by the school (details to be confirmed). For all other participants, SF Express delivery service is the only option available.
Shipping Charges
Standard SF Express shipping charges apply for China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Malaysia, payable by the receiver upon receipt of the medal(s). An additional HKD 35 shipping charge applies for locations in Asia other than those mentioned, and an additional HKD 80 charge applies for locations outside Asia.
Rules and Points to Note
Recording Steps and Uploading Proof
Participants must record their steps using the designated apps by Run2gather or a pedometer. Proof of steps completion, such as a screen capture or a photo of the pedometer display, must be uploaded to the Run2gather app.
Recommended Options for Student Participants
Student participants without access to devices installed with a tracking app are recommended to use a pedometer or walk with adults who will record their progress according to the requirements.
Technical Constraints for Participants Outside Hong Kong
Participants outside Hong Kong may face technical constraints if the Run2gather app is not available for download or use in their country. In such cases, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting [email protected].
Disqualification and Suspension of Accounts
Failure to upload the proof of steps completion within the event period or not meeting the minimum threshold will result in disqualification. Run2gather holds the right to disqualify participants and suspend user accounts upon identifying cheating practices or ingenuine records. In case of disputes, the final decision lies with the MCS Educational Trust and MCSFSA.
Safety and Responsibility
Participants are reminded to prioritize their safety and the safety of student participants under their supervision during the walk. The MCS Educational Trust, MCSFSA, and Run2gather will not be held responsible for any damages, injuries, or loss of life or property arising from participation in the Virtual Walkathon 2023.
Non-transferable Steps and Non-refundable Fees
Steps completed during the event are non-transferable. Enrolment fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
Event Timeline
Register and Complete Steps
Participants are required to register on the Run2gather app and complete 9,800 steps or more in one or more sessions.
Upload Steps Completion Record
Participants must upload their steps completion records to the Run2gather app before the deadline of September 30, 2023.
Completion Award
Upon verification of proof of steps completion, participants will be able to download a completion certificate. Commemorative medals with custom engraving will be awarded based on the chosen delivery method and are expected to be delivered from the end of October to mid-November 2023.
The Virtual Walkathon 2023 promises to be an exciting and inclusive event to support the MCS Educational Trust and its mission. Participants are encouraged to join hands and walk for Maryknoll as they commemorate the school’s 100th Anniversary.
